MISSION

Our Mission

The California Alliance of Legal Interpreters (CALI) exists to strengthen the interpreting profession in California’s state Region 2 courts through unity, advocacy, and collective action. We represent staff court interpreters in collective bargaining, while also building an inclusive professional community that supports ethical, high-quality language access for all court users.

What We Do

Collective Bargaining

We represent Region 2 staff interpreters in collective bargaining to improve wages, benefits, and workplace conditions.

Professional Unity

We promote unity across the profession by supporting collaboration and mutual respect among staff and freelance interpreters.

Improved Compensation

We advocate for improved compensation rates for staff and freelance interpreters working in California state courts.

  • High standards and best practices for language access
  • Clear procedures that support accuracy and due process
  • Professional expectations aligned with ethical interpreting

Ethical Working Conditions

  • Reasonable scheduling and clear role boundaries
  • Safety-conscious courtroom and assignment practices
