Our Mission
CALI exists to strengthen the interpreting profession in California’s Region 2 state courts through unity, advocacy, and collective action. We represent Region 2 staff interpreters in collective bargaining, while also building an inclusive professional community that supports ethical, high-quality language access for all court users.
What We Stand For
Professional Unity
We promote unity in the profession by supporting collaboration, mutual respect, and consistent ethical practice.
Fair Compensation
We advocate for improved compensation rates for staff and contract interpreters working in California state courts.
Language Access Excellence
We advocate for high standards and best practices for language access, along with working conditions that support ethical practice.
Alliances & Solidarity
- Build professional alliances with public and private sector interpreter associations
- Work in alliance with other court workers and their representatives
- Promote workplace practices that protect ethics, quality, and safety in language access
